Once upon a time, when bridges were scarce, and crossing the river Salzach would often only be possible by ferry (Überfuhr) at many places along the river, our restaurant came to be. A crossing in the classical sense was a ferryman with a boat, who would transport passengers across the river Salzach only by shouted requests. Young and old alike were taken from riverbank to riverbank this way. The ferry crossing gave our inn its name, which has stayed the same for over 60 years. The strategically excellent location has blessed us with quite active business over the years.

Today, there’re no more boats. Only the name still reminds of times gone by. Our guests have different reasons to come for a visit: a great kitchen and comfortable atmosphere. Whether in our inside dining rooms, or in our large outdoor dining area, both locals and visitors from all around the world truly enjoy themselves. Our kitchen is influenced by local roots. We spoil our guests with traditional Salzburg fare and lots of treats from the farmers’ kitchens. Here, you will find traditional Austrian hospitality in its most beautiful form.
